Access Statement for Thistles on Skye Self-Catering Holiday Rentals

We have two holiday properties on a traditional croft, please note we have many slopes, steps and split levels in and around the cottages and within. For this reason, it is with regret that we are unable to provide disabled access to our properties.

The Croft and The Cuil are accessed by a single width tarmac road with passing places approximately two miles from the main road (A851).

We are eight miles away from Broadford which has good local village amenities including a Co-Op, fuel, post office, newsagents, a selection of places to eat, doctor’s surgery and hospital.

We will forward detailed directions and further information following booking confirmation.  However, should you wish any information on anything in the meantime, please call us on 01471 833280 or email us at hello@thistlesonskye.co.uk

We look forward to welcoming you!

Pre-Arrival

Bookings and enquiries can be made via our ‘Book Now’ button or phone as above.

We provide a selection of herbs and spices, olive oil, balsamic vinegar etc as well as tinfoil, cling film and the like for use during your stay. We also provide some toilet paper and kitchen roll, a selection of tea bags, some coffee pods for the Nespresso machine, cleaning materials, some dishwasher tablets and washings machine pods.

We offer a provisioning service so that the house is stocked with whatever you wish for your arrival (subject to availability).  We charge a fee of £30 for this service. Please let us know if you require this service.

Online supermarket deliveries are possible to the island.  Tesco and ASDA deliver to a pick location in Broadford.

Detailed directions to the cottages will be sent.

Arrival & Car Parking Facilities

The cottages are accessed through a metal way via the drive and paths – this will be clearly described and indicated on the directions. Please use the parking areas in the layby opposite the end of the driveway. You are welcome to offload in the driveway if you wish although this can be tricky due to the slope and angle – we recommend reversing in.

The main entrance to The Cuil is up the timber steps onto the decking at the end of the driveway.

The entrance to The Croft cottage is down the steps and path between the two properties.

There are external lights on both properties, but these are manual. However, we do provide LED torches which we would recommend taking out with you for the day if you anticipate returning after dark.
